Post Office Carriers Likely to Suffer Dog Bite Injuries

There are thousands of United States Postal carriers across America who deliver mail to many homes that have a household dog.   Often Postal Carriers are unaware that there is a dog on the premises, whether inside the household or in the yard. Without that knowledge it is possible for unsuspecting Postal Carrier Employees to suffer a dog bite-related injury or even suffer a fatal bite when delivering the mail.  In 2003 there was an estimated 3,423 attacks made on Postal Carriers by dogs.   Dog attacks do not only happen with unrestrained dogs, but the majority of dog bite attacks that occur in the United States, including Phoenix and its surrounding area, are dogs that are properly chained.  The United States Postal Service stresses the awareness of chained and unchained dogs.

The United States Postal Office estimate over 25 million dollars are related dog bite-related attacks suffered by a Postal Carrier. Those costs also include delivery curtailment and carrier replacement. Dog owners are legally responsible for the actions of their dogs and the owner is liable for your damages, including medical bills and lost wages you may suffer if bitten by a dog while delivering mail.  An experienced Arizona dog bite attorney can help you get you the compensation you deserve.

According to the Center for Disease control 1 in 50 people in the United States have the chance of being bitten by a dog and suffering a severe dog bite-related injury, or worse a fatal bite. The United States Postal Service tries to educate their employees by offering workshops and passing out pamphlets educating them on the possible dog bite-related injuries one can suffer while on the job.  The Postal Service even offers tips for dog owners, since even though a dog owner can say their dog is harmless and could never attack or bite, no particular situation warrants a dog bite.
